Newsletter Kiwi Class Term 4

Welcome to Term 4. We hope you have had a wonderful rest with your children.

This is a short term with lots happening. First we would like to say a special and HUGE thank you to the wonderful Mums who helped last term with swimming. Your help was much appreciated.

Here is a small preview to what is planned.

*Our focus this term will be drama and Science. *Athletic sports will be held on Tuesday 15 November 9:15 – 12:30, followed by lunch. *Oral language will continue to be a major part of our day, however it will be slightly different…Memory Monday (discussion about the weekend), Topical Tuesday (children will have turns at bringing a newspaper clipping to share with us, you will receive a reminder on the Friday before) and Wondering Wednesday . *Don’t forget to check out the blog from time to time, I will try and put something new on each week! *During the term we will have a new friend visiting and possibly starting school with us, please welcome Hugo and his family if you see them.

We have a fabulous group parents who help in the class room, if you want to join them, please pop in and see us, we would welcome your help.

During the last week of term on the Wednesday evening will be our final school assembly, it is a great time to come and celebrate the children’s learning throughout the school, it is a late night however the children can have a sleep in the following day!

Week 3

Some reminders…

* Learning Conferences next week on Tuesday and Thursday. Have you made your appointment time. remember school closes early on Tuesday at 2pm.

* swimming is going well every Friday. Check out the photos that I will post soon. Thanks to the Mum’s who are helping with transport.

*Money for the Court Theatre and Spark’s trip to the office as soon as possible please.

*School Fair note coming home next week.

 

*The 4 minute challenge…. How many words can your child write by themselves (no help) in 4 minutes. If you could do this at least 3 times a week, your child will really benefit!

Week 10 News

What a great week the Kiwi class has had.

Check out our fabulous art work in our galleries page. we had heaps of fun making birds with Sandy for Art Attack.

Week 8

Well done to Charlotte, Asha, Te Hira and Zach who were in the Year 1 poetry semi finals today.

Next Friday Charlotte and Te Hira will compete against the other Year 1 finalists in the finals of the poetry competition! Good luck little Kiwis.

Week 6

A huge welcome to Nicole, who has started school this week.

Thank you to the parents who came to our Phonics meetings last week. We hope you learnt lots. Our next parent meeting will be on Numeracy, next term.

It is great to see every one in the Kiwi Class working so hard and using fabulous D level behaviour.

Reminders…

*Quite a few children are yawning at 9:00am, please ensure your child/children are getting enough sleep! (Let me know if you are having trouble getting them to sleep, sometimes a little reminder from Mrs Walls helps!!!)

*If your child is learning alphabet or words, please spend time with them every night, so that it reinforces what happens in class.

*Remember to check out our blog, I have been trying very hard to update it as often as possible!

Welcome to Term 2

 

 

We hope that you had a fabulous holiday with your children and managed to spend some fun time as well as rest time!

 

This week we welcome Tim, Corbin and Joel to the Kiwi class. Also a big welcome to Simon who  also has started.

We have another fun filled term ahead…

*PMP on Tuesdays and Fridays

*Learning to use the digital camera

*Learning about the Kiwi

And many more exciting adventures!

The second New Entrant class will begin near the end of term 2, therefore our class will continue to grow before we start the next class. The kiwi class will have about 15 children once the next class begins.

Reminders…

*Library Day is Monday.

*The children need to bring theirReading folder to school every day.

*The children need to practice their alphabet and/or words every night. This will help to reinforce what they have learnt at school that day. Be creative and have fun when helping your child to learn them.

Week 8 News

Since our last post, a huge welcome to school Abby and Charlotte!

Thank you so much to the wonderful parents that have offered to help out in the Kiwi Class, we really appreciate your time.

I have just posted some amazing stories, come and check them out!

Keep up the fabulous work in helping your child to learn their alphabet and/ or words. I know it is hard to fit it all in but the children do benefit from us working together.

A big welcome to the following children who have started school this week…

Parent Help… Now that our class is growing, we would love to have parents to help at certain times of the day. If you are willing and able to help at any of the following times, please come and see us.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – 9:00-10:30

Tuesday and Wednesday – 11:15-12:15

Full training will be given!

Thank you for all your hard work in helping your child to learn their alphabet and/or words. If you have any concerns, please come and see us.

A HUGE welcome to school to Aysha and Tristan!

Reminder

Stu Dval, a fabulous storyteller is visiting our school next Monday. The cost will be $3:00 per child. Please pay to the school office before Monday 17 February.

Swimming is finished for the Kiwi class for this term.

The Kiwi class is setting up a blog at the moment. If you are wishing to have a look the address is as follows… (we are just learning so don’t expect miracles just yet!!!)

Class Newsletter

 

Welcome to school Te Hira and Zach! We hope you have a fabulous time at Southbrook

In Week 3 we will welcome two new friends and then our class will continue to grow.

A few reminders…

*Library day is on Monday. Children will bring home a book, this book needs to be returned by the following Monday for the children to get a new book.

*Swimming… Our swimming time is on Tuesday and Wednesday at 2:20-3:00. If you are able to come and help with dressing we would love to see you! 

*Reading Folders…. Come home every night, please hear your child read and then sign the notebook. Also the children will have alphabet to learn each night. The reading folders come back to school ever day with all the contents.

*Mrs Karen Daly will be teaching in the Kiwi class every Thursday and Friday. I will still be at school, testing children and doing administration!
